The Georgia Senate Health and Human Services Committee will hold a hearing on HB350 in the next few days. The bill legalizes the use of Safe Haven Baby Boxes aka newborn safety devices, in the state. Similar bills were unsuccessful in several legislative sessions. On February 2, 2026, however, SH350 passed the House. Besides Safe Haven Baby Boxes Inc, the bill is lobbied heavily by Bringing Newborn Safety Devices to Georgia and Georgia Right to Life.

Baby boxing accomplishes nothing but adding another layer of neglect and institutional abuse to the real lives of real girls and women. How does sending mothers back to where large complex problems caused the anonymous abandonment to begin with still exist, improve their lives?
