In the last few months, Safe Haven Baby Boxes, Inc has received 2 whopping grants–one direct, the other indirect–to fund its baby erasure scheme. It’s not surprising that the non-profit corporation has not announced these grants publicly. If prospective donors saw the big bucks flowing into its big, beautiful money bag,* they might put their dollars into something more helpful, like family preservation projects and support for pregnant women, mothers, and babies in need of material and social assistance, instead of shoving them into the multi-billion-dollar adoption mill.
According to the ProPublica Non-Profit Explorer, the Louise and Leonard Fletcher Foundation in Brooklyn, Ohio (outside of Cleveland) sent a direct grant of $500,000 (yes, you read that correctly–1/2 million dollars) to SHBB Inc designated for “General Operating Expenses.” This grant appears on the foundation’s 2025 IRS 990 form (you might need to register for free to access it). No other information is available.
Then there’s the Live Well Foundation of South Lake, Florida. According to a news story in the Clermont Sun , the foundation is flooding Lake County, Florida, with $250,000 * to fund the installation of 9 boxes: 5 in Clermont, 3 in Groveland, and 1 in Ajax.
It’s not like Lake County has racked up a dumpster full of babies. According to statistics published by the trad safe haven organization A Safe Haven for Newborns, located in Miami, there have been no newborn discards in Lake County--ever, but there have been 8 traditional in-person SH drop-offs since 2000. Since 2020, there are only 4 discard cases reported for the entire state! Hardly the “emergency” and “epidemic” that the Kelsey Crew tantrumed about for years until the Florida legislature finally passed an authorization bill last year.
Of course, there are a lot of other grants, private and public, that have ended up in the baby box coffers. We still have a tech problem adding grants to our posted list of grantors and donors, but it’s worth noting that, despite what SHBB Inc likes to brag, taxpayers across the country are “donating” lots of cash to support a family-operated evangelical Christian mission that promotes baby abandonment. These include, but are not limited to, Indiana ($1,000,000). New Mexico:($330,000). San Antonio ($438,000) and Montana: ($160,000). Smaller grants hijacked from public funds have been doled out by city councils, county commissioners, and township trustees across the country. We are slowly adding public records and IRS information on our Resource site, so you can see what’s going on.
*According to SHBB’s latest IRS 990 filed in December 2024, SHBB Inc’s net assets went from the previous year’s $1,142,731 to $4,142,731. We can only imagine what the next 990 will tell us.
**We are unable to find an IRS or other official document for this, so we are using the news story.
