Public Records Requests/Public Information/IRS 990s
So far we have posted public records request responses from Indiana (more to come) and will soon have responses from Ohio up and then start a major project in several other states.
Interestingly, in 2023 when we tried to get documents from the Ocala, Florida mayor’s office after the city opened its first baby box, the city responded that it had none on file although the mayor spoke publicly about his extensive communications with SHBB Inc. Hmmmm.
The IRS 990 links go to ProPublica’s SHBB Inc 990s for each year on the Non-Profit Navigator DB. But, you can obtain a lot more annual financial and organizational information by typing “Safe Haven Baby Boxes Inc ” into the search engine. Some very interesting stuff! Like grants! Some of those grants appear on the Promotor page, but due to tech problems, we’ve not been able to add to it–and there’s a lot to add. In the next few days, we will post about 1 of them that is really interesting. We are trying to get the tech problem fixed, so hopefully you will get a better picture of who and what is paying for boxes outside of individual local donors soon.
