Safe Haven Baby Box Inc Locators
Safe Haven Baby Box Inc’s box numbering system has bugged us for a long time.
When the baby abandonment company started its project, it listed each box by number and location, on its website. It was easy to read (example)
A couple of years ago, TPTB replaced this simple utilitarian list with a messy “interactive map” that forces anyone searching for location information (including the actual number of boxes in use) to navigate their way through pesky orange circles and thumbtack thingees splattered over the screen. And don’t get us started on bouncing cursors and decreasing/increasing map sizes. Interactive maps can be helpful, but they can also suck. Especially if you’re a desperada racing to an emergency baby dump box.
You might or might not find the location you are hoping for. You might have to punch in a specific town to see if a box lives there. If you are lucky, the address might pop up. If not, What then? Drop your problem off in a Taco Bell bathroom? We don’t know.
We took a little dive into SHBB Inc number jumble and found a little more than we bargained for.
Here’s some problems
____________
Baby Box Numbers
Until recently, SSHBBN and SHBB Inc were usually in sync regarding box numeration. Their #132 Box in Bowling Green, Kentucky, for instance, was our #132. But last month, specific box numbers began to pop around and fall out-of-whack depending on the source.

Initially, it seemed like the slip of the tongue or fingers (on the keyboard), but then it got weird. The total number of boxes the company claimed to have installed nationwide varied willy-nilly. Not only did specific SHBB Inc and media numbers differ from ours, but SHBB Inc itself gave conflicting numbers right from the horse’s mouth.
The latest , but not only example: On August 15, 2025, Mrs Kelsey declared that the Yoder/Poe, Indiana, box was #365. Documented by video (7:37) and media). SSHBBN archived it as #367. That would make, according to Mrs Kelsey, subsequent boxes that week in Perry, Missouri #366; Crossette, Arkansas, #367; and Wapakoneta, Ohio, #368. But Mrs. Kelsey’s Executive Assistant Jessi Getrost, speaking at the Wapak ribbon-cutting, called it # 366. The following week, speakers at box openings in Russellville, Kentucky; Farmington, New Mexico; and Kingsport, Tennessee, refrained from divulging the box number, though they correctly identified the state number. If we follow Mrs Kelsey’s number scheme, by the end of that week, the company’s total would be 371. Ms Getrost’s would be 372. We archived 373.
It seemed odd that SHBB Inc would undercount their scorecard, and why, in fact, doesn’t Mrs Kelsey et al shout out the box number at every ceremony? That’s the normal thing to do!
Since the SSHBBN team likes nothing more than tedious, mind-numbing tasks, we decided to double- and cross-check the box numbers and locations we’ve archived to see how close we coincided with SHBB Inc numbers. and numeration. I literally went over our database a dozen times, and another person looked at it a few more times,. We always came up with our total: 373.
Guess what! We were correct!
According to Mrs Kelsey’s count last week:
- #374 Tomball, Texas, September 2, 2025
- #375 Magnolia, Texas, September 3, 2025
Today, SHBB #376 opened for business in Corry, Pennsylvania.
Links go to SHBB FB videos of the ceremonies, If you dare to visit them, be prepared for some serious Texas gasbaggery . particularly from Marcus Lutrell, a local baby box influencer who pontificates at both locations on everything from fear of fire to the role of women (including that Jesus was” born through one!)”
Box numbering might sound picky. We all make mistakes. Once you’re spewing out baby abandonment boxes all over the country, you can get confused. If this had been a 1-off, we’d not have mentioned it, but the mistake went on for days. Just how difficult is it for SHBB Inc to keep score?
____________
IMPORTANT: Missing Box Locations
During our cross-checking slog through SHBB Inc’s handy-dandy map we discovered something that should disturb SHBB Inc: 5 box locations are not included. (If they are thre, they are hidden under a different name).
How did this happen?
We have linked each state-page so you can check for documentation of openings. We also re-checked the SHBB map just before posting this, and these locations are still not up.
- #69 – Franklin – opened May 19, 2021
- #129- Aboite – opened December 6 2022
- #163 – Washington – opened September 6, 2023
- #111 -Louisville, Okolona #3 (#6 appears on the map)
- #170 -Lebanon – opened October 4 ,2023 (reported catch November 26, 2024)
Two other boxes have been deactivated due to the closing of their facilities, (Hicksville Memorial Hospital (Ohio )and Hammond Franciscan Health (Indiana) both indicated in our stats. These locations were removed timely from the map.

We won’t.
