Keep Safe Haven Baby Boxes out of Georgia!
The Georgia Senate Health and Human Services Committee will hold a hearing on HB350 in the next few days. The bill legalizes the use of Safe Haven Baby Boxes aka newborn safety devices, in the state. Similar bills were unsuccessful in several legislative sessions. On February 2, 2026, however, SH350 passed the House. Besides Safe Haven Baby Boxes Inc, the bill is lobbied heavily by Bringing Newborn Safety Devices to Georgia and Georgia Right to Life.
Last year, Georgia became the 16th state to acknowledge the right of all adoptees born in the state to receive a copy of their Original Birth Certificates with no conditions or restrictions. HB 350 is a head-on assault on the integrity of adoptee legal and civil rights in Georgia. Defeating this bill in the Senate is the last chance to maintain that integrity.
