Some days I need one or two or three drinks when dealing with SHBB Inc fans. Take this comment (please!) that showed up Tuesday on the company’s Facebook page. (Having trouble with specific link, but the original, to which it responds, was posted on May 19, 2026, 7:43pm if you want to check it out.)

I honestly surprised that you guys are not at least in Las Vegas because the safe space is here are not limited to hospitals and fire department. In Las Vegas, you can drop a baby off at multiple different safe spaces across the city. Including most gas stations, and also the city bus have the safe space stickers available invisible for people to see.
Now I know that this is an absurd claim, but I wanted to double-check that Nevada lawmakers hadn’t lost total control of their senses. They haven’t.
Here is the current safe haven law REV. STAT. ANN. § 432B.630(4) published by the Child Welfare Information Gateway, February 6, 2026
Where Can You Surrender a Newborn?
- A hospital, an obstetric center or an independent center for emergency medical care;
- A public firefighting agency, including, without limitation, a volunteer fire department;
- A law enforcement agency;
- An ambulance service;
- An agency that provides child welfare services.
Why in the world would anyone believe that a gas station is an appropriate (and legal) place for a safe haven baby surrender? The mind boggles with visions of trafficking, medical malpractice, dead babies and mothers, and financial liability. We are relieved that Nevada has no baby box law, but…
…This is the dumbest safe haven thing I’ve heard since New Your State Senator Nancy Larraine Hoffman wanted to add supermarkets –because somebody is always there– to the list of safe surrender locations when the original bill was being formulated 25 years ago. Wegman’s has great service, but that’s asking a bit much of its cashiers. It gives new significance to Cabbage Patch Dolls.
I feel like I’ve had a concussion.
Although this post got two s right away it, took about 3 days for SHBB Inc or civilian commenters to challenge this idiocy. Mrs. Kelsey herself posted, without mentioning that Katie’s claim was false and dangerous.
we are working on coming to Nevada but it’s a process that has to go through the legislative process.~~~~Monica
Followed by a civilian’s common-sense response:
false. Safe Place is not a Safe Haven to surrender infants. They are completely different.
Why is this silly propaganda tolerated? Why wasn’t this misinformation corrected and repudiated immediately by the company? What if somebody read the comment and plopped their baby down on the counter at Circle K?
But, here’s a thought: Casinos. If you’re in Las Vegas with a bad run, the local SHBB fanbase could push the ideal solution for a temporary problem– somebody is always there.
