To celebrate the opening of the county’s 345th baby abandonment box (#147 in Indiana) –(Bloomington Fire Station #2, 209 S Fairfield Drive), someone decided it was a good idea to do a happy dance to commemorate the occasion and post it on TikTok. (We can guess who!)
Vile. Disgusting. Contemptable. Vulgar,. Repulsive. Repugnant. A punch in the stomach and a twerk in the face of adopted people–including those thrown into a Kelsey box who are too young to raise their voice and fist.
The video is an embrace of anonymous birth and child relinquishment, a rejection of due process and best practices standards in child welfare and adoption, the abrogation of adoptee civil rights, and dismissal of pre/post-natal care and safe childbirth practices. Another sign of the Death of Decency in the US.
It is not unusual for baby abandonment fans to refer to those of us who oppose boxes as “demonic,” “possessed,” and Satanic. (Seriously!) If they want to play that game, just what is this little Devil’s Dance?
