An overview of California law, statistics, legislation, and news stories related to Safe Haven Baby Boxes.
Law
- No law in place specifically allowing installation of baby boxes
- Years ago, a baby box device was donated to the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center by The Garden of Angels/Safe Surrender for Newborns located in Calimesa, California. This installation is not connected to the corporate entity Safe Haven Baby Boxes (SHBB) and has never been acknowledged by SHBB. To the best of our knowledge, the hospital did noot promote the box and it was never used. It seems to have been deactivated in 2018.
California Statistics

This baby box was furnished by Debbie Faris Cifelli, founder of The Garden of Angels baby cemetery. The so-called “Safe Surrender” facility at Pomona Valley Hospital. It might be more accurately called a very fancy baby dump box. The logo on the box (actually the door) is the same as that used for the so-called “Garden of Angels” cemetery. It makes you wonder what these people are really thinking when this same logo is at the top of each headstone in their cemetery. (Pictures of the cemetery appear in a separate entry.)
